C. Scott Franklin, CPCU, ARM
President, Co-CEO and Managing Partner

Scott Franklin joined Lanier Upshaw in January, 2000. His duties include overall corporate operations and regional leadership.

Mr. Franklin is a Thomaston, Ga. native and completed high school in Lakeland, FL. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served over 15 years on active duty in the Navy as a carrier jet pilot. He also has a Masters in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and completed the Executive Leadership Development Program at The Wharton School.

Mr. Franklin is very active in community, industry and civic affairs. He serves on the board of directors of the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Chapter of Young Presidents Organization (YPO). He is also a member of the board of governors of the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club, vice chairman of the Lakeland Economic Development Council, president-elect of the Lakeland Rotary Club, a Naval Academy Information Officer and Commander in the United States Naval Reserves. He is an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, Fla. and former session member. Past duties also include the executive committee and board of directors of the Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center.

His insurance industry involvement includes serving on the boards of directors of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) and Westfield Insurance Company’s national agents’ association. Mr. Franklin has previously served on the state advisory councils of Safeco and Hanover insurance companies. He holds the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
