Mercedes Guzman joined Lanier Upshaw in Aug. 2004 as Director of Human Resources. In her current position, her primary duties include recruitment, benefits and compensation administration, employee relations and activities and corporate policies.

Ms. Guzman’s hometown is Ponce, Puerto Rico and she is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. Ms. Guzman has more than 26 years of experience in Human Resources and has held positions at all levels of leadership. Most recent to joining Lanier Upshaw, she was the Director of Human Resources for OES Services in Lakeland, Fla. and previous to that she was Vice President of Human Resources for Florida Water Services/Allette Water Services in Orlando.

Ms. Guzman is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and holds memberships in the Society for Human Resources Management and Mid Florida Society for Human Resources Management where she provides instruction to professionals seeking certification and serves as Certification Chairperson.
