Rick Stein joined Lanier Upshaw in Sept. 2005 in his current position. In this post, he shares chief executive responsibilities with Mr. C. Scott Franklin. His primary duties involve planning and development in support of Lanier Upshaw’s vision of being the premier insurance and risk management firm in the southeast.

Mr. Stein is a native of Jacksonville, Fla. and received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University where he received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Medallion. Mr. Stein also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Mr. Stein began his career with The Regency Group. Prior to joining Lanier Upshaw, Mr. Stein was with Palmer & Cay of Florida from 1993 to 2003, culminating with positions as President and CEO of Palmer & Cay of Florida and President of Palmer & Cay Capital and Palmer & Cay Program Solutions. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Palmer & Cay, Inc. and continues to serve on the board of The Regency Group.

Mr. Stein is a past Chair of the Daniel Foundation Board and is a member of the Executive Committee of the University of North Florida. He is also an active Rotarian having received the Paul Harris Fellow award and he serves on the Rotary Board.
