Lanier Upshaw

Scott has been with Lanier Upshaw since 2000 and currently serves on the Board of Directors. He holds a degree from the US Naval Academy, a MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and is a Graduate of the US Air Force Air Command & Staff College. He has earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) designations.

Scott is currently serving as Chairman for the Lakeland Economic Development Council, Vice Commodore for the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club, Vice Chairman of the Florida Chapter of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), President Elect for the Westfield Agents Association, is on the Executive Committee for the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Governors for the Tampa Bay Partnership, the Board of Overseers for the Florida Southern College Division of Business & Economics, and the Lakeland Linder Airport Advisory Board.

He is a Past President of the Lakeland Rotary Club, Past Executive Committee Member for the Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center, Past Director of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents, and a former member of the Florida Agent's Advisory Board for both Hanover Insurance Company and Safeco Insurance Company.

Scott is a Commander in the US Naval Reserve and is a Naval Academy Information officer. He is a member of the Leadership Lakeland Class XVIII and a graduate of Tampa Bay Partnership's CEO Direct program.

Originally from Thomaston, Georgia, Scott now lives in Lakeland, Florida with his wife Amy and their three children. His favorite quote is by Wayne Gretzky, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
