FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Every Friday, Lanier Upshaw employees are invited to get casual and wear jeans to work in exchange for a $5 contribution to the firm’s charity of the year. This year, employees chose to donate to The Christmas Store, a holiday gift-giving program sponsored by Parker Street Ministries in Lakeland, Florida.
Lanier Upshaw employees raised $3,500 in funds that were donated in the form of a check to Parker Street Ministries. The staff also organized a toy drive that benefited the Christmas Store.

About The Christmas Store
The Christmas Store is a fully-functioning neighborhood store that operates two weekends in December. The store offers 2,000+ new toys, age-appropriate new gifts and funds families can use to purchase items for children and teens from “under-resourced” neighborhoods. The store also gives away holiday décor, craft-making supplies and wrapping supplies, especially gift bags.
The gifts are available to families at 75% off retail prices. A substantial number of volunteers are required to make The Christmas Store happen. Volunteers report that “it’s a lot of work” but find the work immensely rewarding.
The Christmas Store needs 2,000 gifts donated or funded. Gift ideas are listed on the website here. Gifts should be donated in new condition and still in the packaging. Monetary donations are welcome. Visit the website for more information on how you can help. The Christmas Store Facebook Page can be found here.
